To register a company in South Africa is quick and easy.
Only 1 director is required to register a company with the companies commission and each incorporator can also become a director of the company.
The name of your private company will end with “Proprietary Limited” or “(Pty) Ltd”.
From 1 May 2011 the new companies act came into effect and from this date you can no longer register a Close Corporation. Only company registrations can be submitted.
How to register a company online
Complete our easy online registration application form for registering a company and make payment and we’ll do the rest. The cost is only R 1,350 which include:
1. the company name reservation;
2. the registration of the company;
3. a SARS income tax number;
4. a free BEE affidavit
What forms are required to register a new company online in South Africa
After completion and submission of the company registration application on our website, you will receive a confirmation email with further details.
Please use the reference number provided when making payment and in all correspondence to us.
As soon as we receive proof of payment, your first company name(s) will be submitted for reservation and the first available name will be reserved by the companies commission. During the name reservation process we’ll email you a power of attorney form to sign. This signed form must be send back to us with certified copies of all directors ID’s.
We cannot proceed with the company registration without these documents, so please send these to us as soon as possible to speed up the registration at the Cipc.
How long will the registration take
It all depends on the workload at the Companies Commission. All new company registration applications are processed on a first come first serve basis and as registration times changes often, best will be to contact us on 087 012 5960 for more information.
Can a foreigner be a director of a registered company or business
Yes, any foreigner can be a director of a company in South Africa. The affidavit form required for a foreigner to become a director of the company we will draft and emailed to you as soon as we process the application for your company. The business names will then also be lodged at the same time for reservation.
The sworn affidavit must be signed and stamped at any police station in South Africa, South African Embassy or Commissioner of Oaths in SA. Note that it is also a requirement that the street and postal address of the company must be in South Africa.

The final registration documents will be emailed to all directors and also be available to download from the Cipc website.
