SARS Import and Export Licence Application

<<< Back

Do you need an Import and/or Export Permit Number at SARS? We’re here to help.

Import and Export Permit Application

If you are planning to bring controlled goods, used goods, second-hand goods, waste or scrap into the country, you need to register as an importer. Not all goods are subject to import control. However all used goods and second-hand goods, any waste and/or scrap are subject to import control measures via SARS.

What happens if goods are not declared on time? These may then be removed and/or detained in the state warehouse. Certain goods will require an import licence (permit) which must be produced at the time of clearance of the products.

If you want to export certain goods out of South Africa you then must have a permit to comply with applicable export control measures.  The export of certain goods may be restricted or to assist local manufacturers to obtain raw materials before they are exported and a export permit is required to comply with the provisions of international agreements.

We can apply and register you or your company for an Import and/or Export Permit number with SARS. We will do all the work so that you don’t have to. Email us your documents and we will arrange for our couriers to collect your forms from your home or business. You can then sit back and relax while we get your license from SARS.

The documents required to obtain your Import and Export Number:

1. A South African Bank Account Confirmation letter
2. SARS Tax Clearance Certificate
3. Company Registration Certificate
4. ID Copy/s of all Directors
5. Signed forms which we will draft and send to you

The SARS customs official turnaround time for import and export licenses is +- 10 working days after submission of all the necessary documentation to them. Please note that this can sometime take a bit longer, all depending on the workload at SARS and the turnaround times.
